RENTAL CAR PICKUP:

To pick up the car, the renter must possess a full, original and valid driving license for at least 3 years, and present it along with an original ID or passport, and a credit / debit card to pay for the rental and the guarantee.  In addition, all other additional drivers must possess a full, valid driving license for at least 1 year and present it along with an identity card or passport upon vehicle delivery. Specific conditions apply based on the issuing country of the driving license.

Driving Licenses:

All valid driving licenses from all EU countries are accepted.  Driving licenses printed with non-Roman Alphabets (Arabic, Japanese, and Cyrillic) must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit. Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

Age Requirements:

The minimum driver's age is 25 years, and the maximum age is 80 years. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 can rent groups A, B, C, and D subject to a Young Driver's Surcharge of €5.00 per rental day and holding a valid driver's license for at least one year before the pickup date. Drivers aged between 70 and 75 will incur an additional charge of €4.00 per rental day (for all groups). Drivers under 21 and or over 75 may still be insured subject to certain conditions.

Fleet Availability:

Cars are booked by group type and the make and models displayed are our most common vehicles in the category. Although we will always provide you with either this model or a similar vehicle in size and engine type, we cannot guarantee that the make or model of the rental vehicle will be the same as the vehicle displayed on our website and therefore GEODRIVE Car Hire Limited reserves the right to provide a different car model to that originally reserved of an equivalent or higher model type.

Delivery/Collection:

We provide a free 24 hour shuttle service from Larnaca Airport and also free vehicle delivery within Larnaca.  All deliveries and collections outside of Larnaca are available subject to a minimum charge, and any out-of-office hour’s delivery/collection incurs an additional fee.

Payment Method:

All rental charges are payable in advance. We accept all major credit and debit cards. Any additional supplements to the normal rental price will be collected prior to collection of the rental vehicle. All customers will receive a rental contract showing a detailed breakdown of all charges. 

Deposit for Guarantee:

At vehicle pick-up, GEODRIVE Car Hire Limited will preauthorize an amount from the driver's credit card as a deposit for guarantee. The deposit will be blocked (not debited) on the credit card and provided no additional charges arise (e.g. fuel missing at return, lost or damaged key, lost or damaged equipment, additional cleaning etc.), is fully refunded at the end of the rental.

INSURANCE COVERS AND WAIVERS:

GEODRIVE Car Hire Limited offers three different insurance options with varying levels of protection. With each, all authorized drivers have Liability Insurance for Third Party death, injury, and property damage up to the maximum amounts specified by the Republic of Cyprus.

STANDARD (CDW) Collision Damage Waiver:

In addition the daily rental price includes our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) that the renter's liability for damage to the rented vehicle can be reduced, under the condition that the Traffic Law of the Republic of Cyprus is not violated, to the following minimum charges:

  • Groups A, A1, B, B1:                 €800

  • Groups C, C1, D, D1:                  €900

  • Groups G, G1, XE1:                   €1,400

  • Groups E, E1, V, V1:                 €1,800

SUPER (SCDW) Super Collision Damage Waiver:

Purchased by the customer at the time of rental, the SCDW insurance reduces your liability and excess on the deductible excess amount that is applied to CDW by 50%. 

FULL (FCDW) Full Collision Damage Waiver:

Purchased by the customer at the time of rental, the FCDW insurance reduces your liability and excess on the deductible excess amount that is applied to CDW by 100%. 

Please note that unless otherwise stated, damage caused to the windows, windscreen, mirrors, personal belongings, headlights, interior, wheels and/or tyres, the roof or undercarriage, side mirrors, wheels, tyres, undercarriage, engine, clutch, car’s interior, lost keys, towing charges, flat battery and loss of use are not included within the excess.

Windscreen & Tyres (WT):

The renter's liability for damage to the car's windscreen and tyres can be reduced to €0, subject to a daily charge based on the car group.

  • Groups A, A1, B, B1:                 €6 per day

  • Groups C, C1, D, D1:                  €7 per day

  • Groups G, G1, XE1:                    €8 per day

  • Groups E, E1, V, V1:                  €11 per day

Please Note:  Windscreen & Tyres (WT) is included free of charge with our Full (FCDW) insurance

RoadSide Assistance (RSA)

Although your rental car comes with free breakdown service, this cover is specifically for mechanical breakdown.  For all other non-mechanical issues, such as lost keys, towing, winching, flat battery, flat tyre change, lockout service emergency, fuel delivery etc, then the renter will be liable for the cost of the call out and subsequent costs.

Purchased by the customer at the time of rental for a flat rate daily charge of €6.00 per day (for all categories), RoadSide Assistance (RSA) insurance reduces your liability to €0. 

Damage / Accident
In the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, the driver must notify us immediately on the emergency number provided. Under no circumstances should the vehicle be moved unless instructed by a police officer.  Should you move the vehicle the insurance will become invalid and the renter is liable for all costs.  Should another vehicle be involved, the local traffic police must be notified before either vehicle is moved.

Mechanical Breakdown

Your rental car comes with free breakdown service, therefore in the unlikely event of a mechanical breakdown, please call +357 7000 2200 for assistance.

* Please note that if the car has suffered an unexpected mechanical breakdown that was not caused by the renter, we will within 24 hours endeavour to provide a replacement car and although we will always aim substitute with a similar vehicle (transmission, no of doors), we are unable to guarantee a particular make and/or model of vehicle. 

Car rental insurance limitations:

No insurance cover is provided in the case of: A) If the rental car is driven into the occupied Northern part of Cyprus. B) If the rental car is driven under the influence of alcohol, medication or any other substances. C) If the rental car is driven on unpaved road/non-tarmac/trail/off road which can be unfit for its purpose. D) If intentionally trying to damage the hire car. E) If failed to take in mind traffic regulations. F) For lost or total damaged hire car keys which are chip coded and expensive to replace. In this case the customer will be charged for the replacement car key which can cost from €150 to €300 plus any associated transport costs. The charges will be dependent on the actual car key/device. G) For unauthorised hire car driving (drivers not stated on the rental agreement). H) For any unreported accidents or theft to/of the rental car. I) For damages caused to the hire car engine/gearbox/electronics/body due to customer negligence or abuse.

Fuel Policy:
Our vehicles must be returned with the same level of fuel provided at the start of hire, and the level of fuel at the start is marked based on the following scale:-

If you return the vehicle with less fuel than was provided, you will be charged for the missing fuel together with a refuelling service charge of €20.

No refund for any additional fuel at the end of the rental.

 Driving in Cyprus

Cyprus is a left hand side driving country and the steering wheel of cars located on the right side of the car and most traffic signs will be recognizable as they conform to EU standards.

Traffic Fines:

All speeding tickets, parking fines and traffic fines or any other fines resulting from the driver's misconduct are the responsibility of the renter. If the renter fails to pay them, GEODRIVE Car Hire Limited will settle the fine and charge the customer the full amount of the traffic fine plus a non-refundable Incident Administration Fee of €25 per case.

Please Note:  The speed limit signs are in Kilometres per hour and mobile cameras and police radar speed guns are extensively used and not always so visible.

Cyprus Roads

Driving your rental car on any surface other that regular public road surfaces (such as tarmac, asphalt, concrete) is forbidden.  Driving on “off the beaten track” uneven roads and paths leading to these places, such as Akamas Reserve, Avakas Gorge, Turtle beach, LaraBay, Blue Lagoon, Waterfall Bath Adonis, Cavo Greko National Park and other such locations that do not have a proper road surface may cause damage to the undercarriage of the car and you will be liable.

 

Driving the car to the Turkish occupied area:

Driving your rental car to the Turkish occupied area is not permitted and we are not able to provide any kind assistance.  More importantly our insurance company does not provide any insurance coverage for the rental car or third-party claims for the occupied northern part of Cyprus.  Even if you purchase an extra insurance coverage from the borders or follow the reporting guidelines in case of an accident in the occupied northern part of Cyprus the car hire insurance becomes invalid due to political reasons. In addition, please be aware that authorities (police/insurance/borders) in the occupied north part of Cyprus are not recognised by the Cyprus government, therefore any documentation that they may provide you is invalid, and thus you will be solely and fully responsible for any accidents, damages caused to the rental car or third party, recovery costs and any additional costs that may arise.

Pets

Only small pets are allowed to ride in the vehicles and no additional fees are applied, however, pets must be carried in pet carriers at all times and you are responsible for any damage caused by the pet.  Vehicles must be returned clean and free of pet hair and/or odour, if it is determined that the vehicle needs to be cleaned inside and/or out caused due the pet ride, a cleaning fee of €100.00 will be applied and will be deducted from the security deposit.

Smoking

Smoking in the rented vehicle is not allowed and each vehicle will be confirmed “smoke-free” upon delivery and it will be inspected upon its return. If the vehicle needs to be cleaned of smoke odour and/or residue, a cleaning and fumigation fee of €120.00 will be applied and will be deducted from the security deposit.

RENTAL CAR RETURN:

General

Unless you have arranged to extend your rental period, your car should be returned to the location and at the time that is mentioned in Rental Agreement.

Grace Period

At the end of the agreed rental period, GEODRIVE Car Hire Ltd allows a grace period of 59 minutes free of charge. After this period, the customer will be charged a minimum of one full day rental.

Return Condition

The rental car must be returned in the same condition as provided on delivery and without any new damages.  Upon the car rentals return, a member of staff will inspect the hire car to ensure that is returned in its original condition as provided on delivery. Pictures will be taken showing the condition of the hire car on return.

Any damage not recorded on the delivery photos which have been forwarded by email to the customer on rental car delivery date will be considered as new damage to the hire car and the driver/renter will be held liable. New damages to the hire car can be verified by comparing the photos taken on rental car delivery date and the photos taken on rental car return date. The hire car condition photos with damages to the hire car will be forwarded to the customer by email before we proceed to any charges.   

Out of Hours

If the rental car is returned out of hours the customer will still be responsible for the rental car until a member of staff inspects the hire car and ensures that is returned in its original condition as provided on delivery. Any damage not recorded on the delivery photos will be considered as new damage to the hire car and the driver/renter will be held liable.

Acceptable State

The rental car must also be returned in an acceptable state and not overly dirty, with animal hair, sand, mud, stained upholstery, markings of any kind, signs of neglect, or improper use.  If the hire car interior is exceptionally dirty upon return or if there is damage to the car seats, car seat upholstery and carpets an additional charge for repair and/or deep cleaning will be applied.

Changing Booking:

A prepaid booking can be changed up to 24 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) with a booking modification fee of €15.00. Any payment already made will not be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Changes may impact the rental rate. Changing from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible. 

Cancellation:

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the advance payment made will be refunded subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld up to the rental charge (including extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made online or in writing.

No-show

If the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid will be withheld in full. A ‘No-show’ is when you:

  • Fail to pick the car up at the arranged time and date, or

  • Fail to provide the documentation that is required to pick the car up, or

  • Fail to provide a credit card in the main driver’s name with enough funds on it or

  • If there the company believe that the driver is not properly fit to drive.

  • In all of the above cases, you will not receive a refund for any money you have paid.

Extension of Rental / Early Return:

Extensions should be arranged with GEODRIVE Car Hire Limited at least 48 hours before the intended/reserved rental expiry and will be charged according to the valid retail tariff. No refunds can be issued for unused rental days.

Traffic Fines:
